Glazed Ham and Cheese Croissants
Our friend Janet first introduced us to these amazing croissants when she invited us for Sunday lunch. AND WOW. They were so good! But how can you go wrong with a flaky, buttery croissant filled with cheese, ham, and the most delicious, flavorful, sweet and savory glaze on top? They are so addictive, and if you’re like me, you’ll constantly be sneaking “Just one more bite”. The glaze on these croissants is what makes them come alive. The combination of ingredients give it so much flavor and personality, and baking the croissants makes them crispy on top. This recipe is adapted from Dorcas Stutzman’s cookbook, Amish Gourmet. It uses sliders instead of croissants, but we all think that croissants are such a fabulous improvement. If you make these glazed croissants, please leave a comment to let me know how they turned out. I always love to hear from you!
These would make really cute appetizers at a Christmas party if you use smaller croissants.
- 9 croissants (I use the large ones from Costco)
- Ham and cheese for each croissant (I do two slices of black forest ham and two slices of American processed cheese)
- For glaze:
- ½ cup butter
- 1 tsp mustard
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp poppy seeds
- 1 tsp onion flakes or scant ½ tsp onion powder
- ⅓ cup brown sugar
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
- Layer ham and cheese in croissants and place on parchment lined baking sheet.
- In a small saucepan, combine all of the glaze ingredients, place over medium heat, and bring to a boil, stirring often. Remove from heat and brush/drizzle very generously on top of the croissants. Bake in preheated oven for 20-25 min. (Mine were ready in about 20 min)
- If making these as appetizers or for a party, use small croissants.
I love these, I remember when I first made them for our ladies they were a hit! 😋

That’s great, Serene! Thanks for sharing!
Made these with Hillshire Farm ultra thin black forest ham and Havarti cheese. Brushed the glaze on and then sprinkled on the poppy seeds. Such an easy recipe and delicious…..addictive. The best sandwich I have ever eaten.
Thank you so much for the recipe.
Sounds great…you’re very welcome:)
