About Me

I'm
Denae.

Welcome to the place of good eats. I hope you brought a very, very good appetite with you.

You'll be happy you did.

I hope you find recipe inspiration here and a reason to head to the kitchen to create something amazing!

If there’s one thing I’m sure of, it’s that food is not just food. Good food is memories. It is a big, crushing, happy hug of nostalgia. Food brings togetherness, warmth, joy, good conversations. Being able to cook and and serve wonderful food is one of the most satisfying things in the world.

At MyWayGourmet, I share only tested and family approved recipes. I love hosting and planning food and menus for occasions. I’m kind of a recipe experimenter and ingredient adder. (My mom is not overly exuberant about this) I can’t get enough of crisp, expertly styled and artistic food and portrait photography. Music is without question one of my happy places. My background are the Hutterites, who are originally German/Austrian, and my goal is to share traditional Hutterite recipes with you, because, well, there’s just nothing like Hutterite food. A little embarrassing fact about me is that I can be a bit of a control freak in the kitchen, so…yeah, working on that….

I have dual citizenship of both the U.S. and Canada. I used to live on a beautiful 80-acre property in Manitoba with my family of 10, and before that in the Minnesota river valley. Now life finds me in Fort Pitt Farms, a Christian community nestled in among the rolling plains and hills of Saskatchewan. In the summer you’ll find fields upon sweeping fields of golden canola and wheat, and in winter the most breathtaking feathery hoar frost covering the hundreds of pine trees dotting the hills and valleys. Let me just tell you, there’s never a dull moment around here. With a big family, a bigger house, and that ever expanding to-do list, life is often a little too exciting and maddeningly unpredictable. Not to mention I live in FP. There’s always something happening and someone to see.

I hope one day I’ll be able to travel the world, well, some parts of it at least. Touring historical sites while having the ultimate culinary experience. LA. NY. England. Japan. The Mediterranean. Austria. India. PEI. Just to name a few. Some day.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy my blog and the recipes I post. I love reading your comments and reviews on recipes you make! They make my day:)

enjoy your stay at mywaygourmet:)
